I've been in martial arts for many, many years. Learned the proper use of several weapons. Sais, nunchucks, bo, staff, shurikens, my katana. Love my katana sword. Thanks for giving a tutorial for the novice. They need to be reminded, though, over and over again, don't begin with a real sword. Injury more than likely WILL occur.

I own swords and have a weird side obsession with them and use them sometimes for cosplays. I love this style! I will first practice this with my wooden sword because it’s light so it’s easy to master then once I get the hang of it I’ll try it on my steel one. Does this trick work with other things? For eg a bat or a lightsaber

Can i do this with machete?

I find it much easier to flip the sword completely vertical, the sword never even leaves your hand! You hold the sword upside down in reverse grip, and let the elbow do the launch and ease your grip to the handle as you move it upwards, and when the sword handle is level to the floor you quickly move your hand diagonally down to lock the handle between your thumb. I find this way much easier and consistent than letting the sword free in the air, if you were to use a real blade and do it even slightly wrong you could get very injured so I would absolutely not recommend it doing it. It's cool and all, but I wouldn't take any chances with heavy or sharp objects swinging uncontrollably in the air.
